The USABMX national tour rolled into Eugene Oregon and our amateur squad was eager to chase those valuable rankings as the season rolls along. The track talk early was noted as a more jumpers style course which the pacific northwest has always been known for and this year did not let anyone down. With the pro riders gearing up for Nashville this would be an amateur only event which our West coast kids were more than up for the task.
Sequoia Gomolicke would set the tone for her weekend early by picking up a 2nd and 3rd on Friday and remain there all weekend. 6 races and 6 podiums for her and it's very seldom that "scoops" doesn't pick up a W. Keep an eye on her I think she might go on a tear.
Kaiden understood the assignment as they say and was going very fast in 13X all weekend. You could spot him leading laps all weekend and chalk the boomerang up for 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd on the weekend. Into the 14X division
Gaige Gomolicke would knock out the trifecta and grab all 3 levels of the podium with a 2nd Friday, returning for the big win on Saturday and then stepping to the 3 spot on Sunday. That win will def help Gaige who currently sits atop the NAG rankings add a few points and try and hold off any mid season challenges.
Seems kinda crazy to think our veteran rider title for the weekend goes to Deegan Brown but with arguably one of the best mains of the weekend with Bobby Connelly and Chase Buller on Saturday Deegan rode well and picked up a huge win Saturday and flanked that win with a pair of thirds Friday and Sunday. 3,1, and 3 will keep him planted in the NAG top 10 conversation and the point are starting to really tighten up and we may have a few riders hunting start positions in the NAG 5 challenge at this pace.
You are probably curious where our resident 7 foot giant Josh White was? Footage has surfaced of him putting in some serious training laps in So Cal at Chula and he has been expanding his experience level as he starts to eye some more big hill action in the near future.
The next race stop takes us to a double race weekend with both New Mexico for the Ams and Nashville for the elite guys cheer on your favorite riders and let us know where you plan on racing!
