When we think of Florida and the kickoff to a new season of racing naturally we think sunny weather and fast paced race action right? Well mother nature had a different idea and the sun was elusive and nowhere near as bright as the debuts for a few new faces and some familiar faces in new classes. The fresh new face on the squad is Lexis Colby who took her custom Teal colorway 2 a pair of podium 3rd's on the weekend in the elite class and also took down a 5th to make an impressive start to the season. We are thrilled to support Lexis as she takes another step in her journey and the debut for her in our Fly Racing kit was great and look forward to seeing her battle up front all season long.
No stranger to battling up front is Deegan Brown who will now shift his focus to the Jr. Men category in hopes of securing a spot in the next step up in competition after doing well in 17-24 and with 1 more year of Jr. status available he has jumped into the mix. Turning heads with an early round 1 win Deegan settled in nicely and eventually wound up taking down a semi win as well putting him in the conversation for a potential threat at the win. A little bit of scheduling chaos would factor in and strategy would play a big part as quite a few riders had to choose between 17-20X as the focus or Jr Men as the focus with back to back laps working against them it was tough to say the least. Deegan would bring down a well deserved 4th place finish in Jr which was a great base to build off of and we look forward to him taking another shot at it in the near future.
Rock N Roll Spencer Cole had a rough start to the season falling short of mains the first 2 days but did make that coveted main event on Sunday which as we all know getting scores and stacking points is crucial to be a factor late in the season so we look forward to seeing Spencer continue to climb the ladder.
Our lone amateur rider at the event was Kaiden Ireland who was busy getting results in the 13X class, he qualified for Worlds on Friday and then a pair of mains 2nd and 6th to wrap up the weekend will have him hungry for more. The next event for the team will be Phoenix as the West coast kicks the season off and the majority of our riders will be gunning for results. Excited to see everyone out in the desert for what is always a great event and now with Bubba Harris at the helm we expect the race to be even more #fun!
